Our Story:
Simple. Handmade. Authentic.

I began crocheting around Christmas 2025. I needed something to do on planes and in hotels when I travel for work besides doomscrolling on my phone. I had lost my dad only a few months earlier.

I noticed someone crocheting in the Chicago O'Hare airport and wondered if I could do that. So, I learned one stitch (the single crochet) and started on a scarf. The edges looked like Count Chocula had gotten a hold of it. However, a couple of close friends encouraged me to keep trying.

Soon, I tried baby beanies and then branched into bags. The more I crochet, the more friends liked my work and the more suggestions to give me for other items.

Soon, my home office was transformed into a crochet and yarn storage room. And Prairie Threads SD was born.
